The first hut was built and opened in 1901 by the Carniolan section of the German-Austrian Mountaineering Association. After the First World War, it was taken over by the
Slovenian Mountaineering Association, repaired and enlarged, and reopened on July 30, 1922.

About Erjavčeva hut
The hut is located among larches on a small hill beneath the Vršič mountain pass. A central heating system and a ceramic masonry furnace ensure a comfortable stay. Electricity, toilets, and showers are available throughout the year.
A unique attraction is the rocky face of Ajdovska deklica in Prisojnik, visible directly from the hut.
How to reach Vršič pass
By car from Kranjska Gora (10 km) or from Trenta valley (10 km). Hiking access takes approximately 3 hours. A seasonal bus also operates nearby.

Accommodation and facilities
Visitors can stay in one of 11 different rooms or shared dormitories. Facilities include electricity, showers, and traditional alpine comfort.

After whom the hut got its name
Fran Erjavec
It was named after the naturalist and writer Fran Erjavec (1834–1887).



About recent history
From the hut to a popular excursion point
After World War II, the hut was renovated and reopened in 1946. Electricity was installed in 1949, and the current building was completed in 1993.
