We are proud to live in the mountain hut at the National park, and our motto remains – Simplicity inside, luxury outside.

Dilemmas Are a Constant Part of Mountain Hut Life

Dilemmas are a constant part of life, and we deal with them every day at Erjavčeva mountain hut as well.

As mountain hut caretakers, we often ask ourselves questions such as: if the road passes only about 50 metres from the hut, are we still a true mountain hut in the traditional sense? And as expectations change, are we slowly becoming more like a hostel or even a hotel, instead of remaining what a mountain hut is meant to be?

This year, we carried out a major renovation of the hut. For some visitors, the new appearance and a few modern touches may raise exactly these kinds of questions. Even so, we are proud of what has been improved. We replaced all 54 windows, renovated the entire first floor, renewed the wooden wall elements, and refurbished eleven private rooms, as well as the bathrooms and showers.

Our goal is not to lose the identity of the mountain hut, but to preserve it while offering guests a more comfortable and welcoming stay in the mountains.

Simplicity Inside, Luxury Outside

We renovated the hut this year, and while some of the new details may appear more modern, we are proud of the improvements. We replaced all 54 windows, renovated the entire first floor, renewed wooden wall elements, and refurbished eleven private rooms, together with the bathrooms and showers.

Erjavčeva mountain hut is more than 120 years old and has been in Slovenian hands for around 100 years. Of course, there have been important renovations in the past, with the previous major renovation taking place about 30 years ago. Today, we continue this story with care, trying to preserve the spirit of the traditional mountain hut while offering a more comfortable stay for modern visitors.
