Prisojnik - Prisank (2547M)

Prisank, also known as Prisojnik, is a 2547 m high mountain above the valleys of Mlinarica, Krnica, and Suha Pišnica. From the summit, where a registration box with a stamp is located, there is a beautiful view of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps.

About the Hike to Prisojnik (Prisank), Slovenia

Prisojnik, also known as Prisank, is one of the best-known mountains above the Vršič Pass and one of the most impressive peaks in the Julian Alps. Because of its dramatic north face, its famous rock windows, and its accessible position above the pass road, it is a popular goal for experienced hikers and climbers exploring this part of Slovenia.

Although the mountain is well known and relatively easy to reach from the Vršič Pass, none of the marked routes to the summit should be considered easy. Prisojnik is a demanding high-mountain tour that requires good fitness, sure-footedness, and appropriate equipment.

One of the most famous routes is the secured Kopiščarjeva pot, which passes the legendary Ajdovska deklica (Heathen Maiden). Along the way, hikers squeeze through the well-known Prednje okno and continue across dramatic rocky terrain towards the summit ridge. This is one of the most scenic and memorable routes in the Vršič Pass area.

Many hikers choose to combine the ascent with a descent via the route through Zadnje okno towards Mlinarica and back to the Vršič Pass. This creates a magnificent high-alpine circuit and one of the most rewarding mountain tours in the Julian Alps.
