In September, the Julian Alps become the stage for a remarkable running spectacle. Have you already registered?

Do not miss the chance to register for the biggest trail running event in Slovenia and experience an unforgettable adventure on the trails of the Julian Alps. This year, the event I Feel Slovenia Julian Alps Trail Run by UTMB is expected to welcome more than 2,500 runners from 60 countries around the world.

The UTMB World Series, the world’s leading trail running series, is returning to Kranjska Gora and other destinations in the Julian Alps. The Julian Alps Trail Run is the only Slovenian event included in this elite international series.

As part of a selected group of just 36 iconic trail running events worldwide, I Feel Slovenia Julian Alps Trail Run by UTMB stands alongside some of the most renowned races in the sport, such as the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc in France and the Western States Endurance Run in the United States.

By being part of this global series, the reputation of the Julian Alps and Slovenia reaches runners and outdoor enthusiasts around the world. Participants from 60 countries have already registered for the event, representing every continent except Antarctica.

UTMB

6 distances with a royal 170 km route around the Julian Alps

The event routes connect many destinations within the Julian Alps. The royal 170 km route, starting from Kobarid, connects the Soča Valley, Bled, Žirovnica, and Kranjska Gora. In the 170 km distance, runners also have to conquer almost one Mount Everest ascent (approximately 8000 m of elevation gain).

In addition to the 170 km route, runners have the option of a 100 km route starting from Radovljica, a 60 km route starting from Žirovnica, and circular routes of 25 km, 15 km, and 10 km in Kranjska Gora.

Specially adapted routes for beginners

Running spectacle in the Julian Alps

When designing the 10 km and 15 km routes, the organizers had beginners in the world of trail running in mind, as well as those who prefer more moderate challenges. These routes follow easier and less demanding paths while offering beautiful views of the Alps and Lake Jasna.

For those accustomed to road running challenges like half marathons and marathons, the new circular 25 km route will be an excellent challenge. It is not technically demanding and can serve as a great transition from road running to trail running.

Runners will connect the greatest gems within the Julian Alps with their running steps

The event connects some of the greatest gems of the Alps. Along their journey through the Soča Valley, runners will run alongside the emerald river Soča and also visit the lowest point of the Triglav National Park – Tolmin Gorges.

They will enjoy breathtaking views of the highest Slovenian peak, Mount Triglav, and other peaks of the Julian Alps. Runners will also admire Lake Bohinj, which is visible from a distance, and have the opportunity to experience Lake Bled up close.

The most beautiful part of the route undoubtedly presents the magnificent Karavanke ridge, where they will face the ascent to the highest point – Stol. All routes eventually finish in the main destination – the idyllic alpine town of Kranjska Gora.
