Postcard from Erjavčeva koča

We have a rare opportunity from a lady visit us this day, bringing us a postcard from Erjavčeva koča. She wondered how we are doing at Erjavčeva koča mountain hut these days. She brings a postcard from 1959 with a confirmed reservation for sleeping written on it. Some grandmothers of Booking.com and AirBnb.com.

We talked a little, had lunch, and shared some memories about the mountain hut, and there were some tears of happiness as well. We call it life experiences.

The mountain hut, with its long history, built in 1901, hosted plenty of guests worldwide. If only the place can speak, that would be a lot to listen to. Keeping simplicity alive is more and more complicated in this modern world, but we are doing our best. The company is what matters.

People around us are hell or heaven. We decide who is giving our precious time we have on this beautiful earth.

Postcard from Erjavčeva koča

Nestled atop the rugged Vršič Pass in the heart of the Julian Alps, the Erjavčeva mountain hut stood as a silent sentinel, guarding the secrets of generations past. Its weathered timbers bore witness to countless tales of adventure and camaraderie, whispering stories of good old times beneath the shadow of the towering peaks.

One crisp autumn afternoon, as the golden sun dipped low in the sky, a group of intrepid travellers stumbled upon the mountain hut, their weary footsteps echoing against the rocky terrain. They sought refuge from the chill of the mountain air, drawn by the promise of warmth and companionship within its cosy confines.

As they entered the hut, the travellers were greeted by candlelight’s flickering glow and the woodsmoke’s comforting aroma. The air was thick with nostalgia as old photographs adorned the walls, each one a silent testament to the rich tapestry of memories that lingered within.

Amidst a pile of dusty artefacts nestled beneath a faded map of the surrounding peaks, the travellers discovered a weathered postcard, its edges frayed with age. The sepia-toned image depicted Erjavčeva mountain hut as it stood in 1950, a snapshot frozen in time, capturing the essence of a bygone era.

Intrigued by the discovery, the travellers gathered around the postcard, their fingers tracing the worn edges with reverence. They imagined the mountain hut as it once was, bustling with life and laughter, a haven for weary travellers seeking respite from the rigours of the trail.

As the evening wore on and the fire crackled in the hearth, the travellers found themselves drawn into conversation, swapping stories of their adventures and reflecting on the timeless beauty of the mountains. They marvelled at the courage of those who had come before them, their spirits indelibly woven into the very fabric of the landscape.

The travellers felt a profound connection to the past as the stars shimmered overhead and the moon cast a silvery light upon the mountainside. They realized that, though time may march inexorably forward, the spirit of Erjavčeva mountain hut would endure, a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who sought solace amidst the grandeur of the Alps.

And so, as they bid farewell to the mountain hut and set out once more upon the winding trail, the travellers carried with them memories of good old times and the enduring legacy of those who had come before, for in the heart of the Julian Alps, amidst the towering peaks and whispering pines, the spirit of Erjavčeva mountain hut lived on, a timeless reminder of the power of adventure and the beauty of the human spirit.
