Soteska Vintgar or Vintgar Gorge near Bled

Spanning 1.6 kilometres (1 mile), Vintgar Gorge boasts towering limestone cliffs that soar up to 100 meters (330 feet) above the rushing waters below. As visitors venture along the well-maintained wooden walkways and bridges that meander alongside the river, they are treated to a mesmerising spectacle of sights and sounds—a symphony of rushing water, cascading waterfalls, and verdant foliage clinging to the rugged cliffsides.

The highlight of any visit to Vintgar Gorge is undoubtedly the Šum Waterfall, a breathtaking cascade that plummets into a crystal-clear pool below with thunderous force. Standing on the viewing platforms near the waterfall’s base, visitors are enveloped in a fine mist as they marvel at the sheer power and beauty of nature’s creation.

Throughout the gorge, nature reveals its boundless creativity and diversity—lush vegetation blankets the cliffsides, providing a habitat for many plant and animal species.
