Opening hours

The hut is usually always open, even at night. If the doors are locked, you can ring the bell. Official open hours are in winter from 08:00 – 20:00 and in the summer from 07:00 – 22:00. Slow Wi-Fi and no phone signal

There can be bad or even no phone signal. The internet is still a luxury in a national park 1525 meters above sea level. We have internet, but it is slow and sometimes tricky. Elon Musk is not here yet, but we prefer to observe the stars, not his wi-fi satellites.

Room size

Mountain huts in Slovenia were designed as refuges and not as today’s hotels. The rooms are small and modestly furnished but more than enough for a pleasant sleep and rest. Modest rooms inside and beautiful nature outside.


Some of your prices are higher than expected. Why? We are a mountain hut 1525 meters above sea level, open yearly. We are heating the house the whole year, even in summer. That is why we are regulating the prices regarding the heating of the hut.

Bus schedule

Bus to the Vršič pass is going only on season time. Please check the schedule.  However, you can take a taxi from Bovec or Kranjska Gora. There is always an option for hitchhiking from the valley. Hitchhiking is quite common and safe in Slovenia.    


So that you know, we are a mountain hut 1525 meters above sea level. In winter, the road can be closed for a day or two (or longer if necessary) regarding the danger of snow or avalanches. In that case, you will need to walk from the valley if the road is closed. Depending on the path or path[ … ]

A bus station is just around the corner, 300m at maximum. However, it goes only between the high season (May, June – September). You can take a taxi if you feel lucky.
