Is there a bus to Vršič Pass?

The bus to Vršič Pass usually operates only during the main tourist season. Because the timetable can change from year to year, we recommend checking the latest information before your trip.

Vršič Pass connects the area between Kranjska Gora, Trenta, the Soča Valley and Bovec. During the summer season, public transport can be a useful way to reach the pass without using your own car.

What if there is no bus?

If the bus is not operating, you can still reach Erjavčeva koča mountain hut in several ways. Depending on the season, weather, road conditions and your physical ability, you can walk from the valley, take a taxi, arrange a private transfer, or sometimes get a ride from another vehicle travelling towards Vršič Pass.

Hitchhiking is relatively common in Slovenia, especially in mountain areas during the tourist season, but it is always your own responsibility and depends on traffic, timing and personal judgement.

If needed, we may also be able to help arrange a shuttle or local transport. Please contact us in advance, especially if you are arriving outside the main season or without your own car.

Winter access and snowmobile transport

In winter, access to Vršič Pass can be affected by snow, ice, road closures and avalanche danger. If the road is closed because of snow, normal taxi or bus access may not be possible.

In some winter conditions, and only by prior arrangement, transport of luggage or equipment by snowmobile may be possible. This always depends on snow conditions, weather, safety, staff availability and the current situation on the road.

Please do not rely only on Google Maps when planning your arrival to Vršič Pass in winter. Road information, weather conditions and local updates are more reliable for deciding whether the road is actually open or closed.

Erjavčeva koča is a mountain hut at Vršič Pass, not a city hotel with public transport available all year round. Before travelling, check the bus schedule, road conditions, weather forecast and your arrival time.
