The Alps Adria Trail, Slovenia
The Alpe Adria Trail is one of the most beautiful long-distance hiking routes in Europe, connecting the high mountains of Austria with Slovenia and the Adriatic Sea in Italy. The trail leads from the foot of the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain, through Carinthia, across Slovenia and the Julian Alps, and onward to Friuli Venezia Giulia and Muggia near Trieste. With about 750 kilometres and 43 stages, the Alpe Adria Trail is designed as a cross-border journey through three countries, three cultures and a remarkable variety of landscapes. In Slovenia, the trail is especially memorable because it passes through alpine valleys, mountain passes, the emerald Soča River area and some of the most scenic parts of Triglav National Park.
