Kanin, also known as Mount Kanin or Monte Canin, is one of the most impressive mountain areas in the western Julian Alps, rising on the border between Slovenia and Italy above Bovec and the upper Soča Valley. Its highest summit, Visoki Kanin, reaches about 2,587 metres and separates the Slovenian Soča Valley from Italy’s Resia Valley. The Kanin mountain range is famous for its wide panoramic views, high alpine terrain, rugged limestone landscape and dramatic position above one of the most beautiful valleys in Slovenia. For hikers, photographers and nature lovers, Kanin offers a powerful combination of Julian Alps scenery, views toward the Adriatic Sea in clear weather, and the wild alpine character of the border mountains between Slovenia and Italy.
