The importance of Zadnjica Valley is closely connected with Slovenian mountaineering, as it is a classic starting point for demanding routes toward Mount Triglav via Dolič, Kanjavec, Prehodavci, Kriški podi, Razor, Stenar and other high mountain destinations. The valley is also known for its strong alpine character: in spring, waterfalls and avalanches can thunder down from the surrounding walls, while in summer and autumn the valley offers peaceful access to some of the most dramatic hiking routes in Triglav National Park. Wildlife, alpine flowers, old mule tracks and views toward the high limestone peaks add to its special atmosphere. These routes require proper preparation, suitable equipment, stable weather and respect for mountain conditions, especially when continuing beyond the valley into exposed alpine terrain. From Erjavčeva mountain hut on Vršič Pass, Zadnjica Valley can be included in a scenic day trip through Trenta, the source of the Soča River, Mlinarica Gorge, the Alpine Botanical Garden Juliana and the most beautiful natural sights of the upper Soča Valley.
