The importance of Vrata Valley is closely connected with Slovenian mountaineering tradition, access to Triglav and the natural heritage of the Julian Alps. One of its most famous attractions is Peričnik Waterfall, with a lower waterfall of about 52 metres and an upper waterfall of about 16 metres, where visitors can even walk behind the lower cascade. Further into the valley stands Aljažev dom v Vratih, a classic mountain starting point for routes toward Triglav and the surrounding peaks. The valley is also part of the Triglavska Bistrica Trail, an excellent way to discover its natural and cultural highlights on foot. From Erjavčeva mountain hut on Vršič Pass, Vrata Valley can be included in a scenic alpine journey through Kranjska Gora, Mojstrana, Peričnik Waterfall and the most iconic mountain landscapes of Triglav National Park.
