Nadiža waterfall, Slovenia
Nadiža Waterfall, also known as Slap Nadiža, is a small but very important waterfall in the Tamar Valley above Planica, near Kranjska Gora in the Julian Alps. It is best known as the first visible source of the Sava Dolinka River, one of the two headwaters of the Sava, Slovenia’s longest river. The water emerges from the rock below the Ponca mountains, falls in a beautiful waterfall of about 10 metres, and then quickly disappears underground before reappearing again at the famous Zelenci Nature Reserve. Because of this unusual karst behaviour, Nadiža is not only a scenic waterfall but also an important hydrological and natural landmark in northwestern Slovenia.
