Škrlatica mountain, Slovenia
Škrlatica is one of the most majestic mountains in the Julian Alps and the second-highest peak in Slovenia after Mount Triglav. Rising to 2,740 metres, it is often called the Queen of the Julian Alps because of its elegant shape, steep rock walls and powerful presence above the alpine valleys of Vrata and Krnica. Although it is slightly lower than Triglav, Škrlatica feels wild, remote and serious, offering a true high-mountain atmosphere for experienced hikers and mountaineers. Its dramatic limestone walls, changing light and wide views make it one of the most impressive mountains for photography, alpine exploration and discovering the more demanding side of Slovenia’s mountain world.
