Cave del Predil, also known historically as Raibl, is a fascinating alpine village near Tarvisio in Friuli Venezia Giulia, close to the Slovenian border, Predil Pass and Lake Predil. Surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Julian Alps, Mangart and the border mountains between Italy and Slovenia, the village is best known for its mining heritage and its unique position between the Soča Valley, Tarvisio and the old alpine routes toward Bovec and Log pod Mangartom. Unlike many purely scenic mountain stops, Cave del Predil combines natural beauty with industrial history, making it an interesting destination for travellers who want to explore both the landscape and the human stories that shaped this part of the Alps.
