Prisank window or Prisojnikovo okno, Vršič, Slovenia
Prisank Window, known in Slovenian as Prisankovo okno or Prisojnikovo okno, is one of the most extraordinary natural landmarks above Vršič Pass in the Julian Alps. This impressive natural rock opening lies high in the wall of Prisank, also called Prisojnik, one of the most powerful mountains between Kranjska Gora and the Trenta Valley. Visible from the Vršič road and nearby viewpoints, the window looks almost impossible from below, yet it is a real geological feature shaped by the long natural processes of limestone, weather and erosion. Together with Ajdovska deklica, the Russian Chapel and the dramatic views of Mala Mojstrovka and Prisank, Prisank Window is one of the most recognisable sights on Slovenia’s highest mountain pass.
