The area around Kozjak Waterfall is also rich in history and cultural meaning. The trail to the waterfall can be combined with the wider Kobarid area, where visitors encounter reminders of the First World War, the Isonzo Front, the Napoleon Bridge and the famous Kobarid Historical Trail. The Kozjak stream itself flows through a series of pools and waterfalls, but only the lower waterfalls are easily accessible to visitors, which makes Veliki Kozjak especially important as the main natural highlight of the gorge. Because the final section includes wooden walkways and wet rock, good footwear and respectful behaviour are recommended, especially during busy periods or after rain. From Erjavčeva mountain hut on Vršič Pass, Kozjak Waterfall can be included in a beautiful day trip through Trenta, Bovec, Kobarid and the Soča Valley, combining alpine scenery, water, history and one of Slovenia’s most unforgettable hidden waterfalls.
