Small Soča gorge, Slovenia
The Small Soča Gorge, known in Slovenian as Mala korita Soče, is one of the most beautiful small natural wonders in the upper Soča Valley and a remarkable stop inside Triglav National Park. Just before the Soča River meets the Vrsnica stream, the emerald water has carved a narrow limestone gorge about 100 metres long, up to 6 metres deep and only around 1 metre wide at its narrowest point. Although it is much shorter and more modest than the Great Soča Gorge, its turquoise pools, smooth rock walls and intimate scale make it a special place for photography, quiet observation and appreciating the power of water in the Julian Alps. Because the gorge is part of a protected natural environment, visitors should respect the marked paths, avoid unsafe access to the river and enjoy the view without disturbing this fragile alpine landscape.
